Although things didn’t go the way it wanted them to this last week, the baseball team is still in prime position to make a postseason run. The Warhawks will travel to UW-Stevens Point to face UW-Oshkosh at 10 a.m. in the opening game of the WIAC tournament.
There were plenty of question marks regarding the women's basketball team entering the 2010-2011 season. After all, they lost many seniors from last year's WIAC title squad and have three freshman in the starting lineup. A problem? Not for head coach Keri Carollo's team, which is actually in better shape in the conference standings and rankings than it was at this time last year.
All one could hear were the flags blowing in the wind. Silence filled the air. One would have thought the baseball team was in last place from the somber tone in the players’ voices after letting the series finale against UW-Stevens Point slip away Monday evening.
More than likely the football team will have home field advantage throughout the postseason. The Warhawks have not clinched a berth in the NCAA tournament yet, but there is little doubt they will roll to the national championship game – especially after the drubbing the ’Hawks put on UW-Stevens Point last Saturday. So technically, the regular season finale against UW-Oshkosh will not be the last time the 17 seniors suit up for a game at Perkins Stadium.
