Thought on RP reporting

Tiffany Wood, Social Work Major

Feb. 1 publication of the Royal Purple, featuring explicit detail about a sexual assault that took place on campus, lacked a sensitivity to the effects of trauma. Within this situation, there are now two lives that have been further disrupted by this publication of the article. Regardless of the fact that names were left out, reputations continue to be effected for anyone who is aware of the identity of the victim or perpetrator.  While public records allow it, the posting of the details of the assault perpetuates the trauma and wrong that has already been done to this individual. Imagine, one of your most difficult moments on display for all to read.
