Whether cuddling up with hot cocoa and studying for finals or Netflix and chilling, a warm blanket is what you’re going to need to keep the chill of the upcoming winter away. Instead of buying a blanket, you can make one.
This craft is rather simple and only requires purchase of a needle and a spool or two of thread.
What you’ll need:
about 20 old T-shirts (depending on your size, more shirts needed if you are a small or medium)
a needle (size depends on how big you want the holes to be)
thread (a spool or two of any color you want)
scissors
First, take T-shirts and cut them into rectangles. Cut the sleeves and neck hole off and cut along the sizes of your shirt so the back of the shirt and the front are two equal sized rectangles. Repeat for all your shirts.
Second, sew together two of your rectangles, but only along one side. Remember when sewing you may want to put all the logos on one side of your blanket and all the blank banks on another.
You can overlap the material or, like a shirt, sew the two together so there is a hem line in the part that will go inside the blanket. After you sew the rectangles together, sew them in a 4×5 pattern, so you have 20 rectangles sewn together. Repeat for the remaining 20 squares so now you have two big rectangles.
Finally, sew together the two big rectangles along the outer sides. This way it is double the material for more warmth. Your finished product is unique to you and will keep you warm this winter. This could also be a gift for a friend or loved one. Whatever you decide this blanket will keep you warm, look fabulous, and save you bank this winter.
