On April 4, 2011, Jeffrey H. Farrington, 52, was arrested at his Cottage Grove, Wis., home after the FBI executed a search warrant at his home.
According to a press release from the Whitewater Police Department, Farrington allegedly robbed Commercial Bank Westside, located at 1260 W. Main St., on Jan. 14, 2011.
The release said Farrington allegedly approached the bank teller demanding money and advising that he had a bomb. He was able to flee the store prior to the officer’s arrival with an undisclosed amount of money, the release said.
According to the release, the FBI began tracking other bank robberies in Neenah, Oconomowoc Lake and La Crosse in the months following the Whitewater bank robbery. Similarities had been suspected between all four bank robberies, the release said.
On March 31, 2011, the Neenah Police Department notified the FBI that DNA had been isolated by the State Crime Lab on evidence left at the January 5, 2011, bank robbery in Neenah, the release said.
The release said the State Crime Lab was able to match Farrington to the isolated DNA profile in Combined DNA Index System.
