Whitewater’s Common Council met briefly Oct. 20 to discuss early voting logistics and a FEMA reimbursement program. 

One of those items included locations for early voting. Early voting began in Whitewater on Oct. 20, and will continue through Oct. 30. City Manager Cameron Clapper also gave an updated report on the Routes to Recovery program made through the State of Wisconsin. This program utilizes dollars and allows for cities to reimburse for expenses beyond what might otherwise be reimbursed through the FEMA program. The expense timeframe is from March 11 thru Nov. 6. The next reimbursement submittal is Nov. 11 thru Nov. 18. Whitewater has been allotted $242,611. The city anticipates the total between now and when the time window closes on Nov. 6 to be well beyond $300,000. Whitewater anticipates a full reimbursement of those dollars. 

Clapper let everyone know the budget is still underway. The finance committee has held three separate meetings and convened to discuss the budget document. It will be brought, completed, to the Nov. 3 meeting to present. 

Leaf collection also begins the week of Oct. 26. This will also continue throughout the weeks of Nov. 6, and Nov. 20. Leaf bag drop off will occur from Nov. 26 thru Dec. 4. 

One resolution passed at the meeting: an authorization of a grant application to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation for the community development investment. The application is for an individual looking to remodel the site of 183 W. Main St.
