Charlie Berens, a Midwestern-based comedian, visits Whitewater for the third time on his Good Old Fashioned Tour on Sep. 8.

As the new school year starts to approach, Young Auditorium starts to look for events to captivate audiences. This includes comedy shows, musicals, concerts and more that would bring the community of Whitewater and the area around it together. Here is the 2023 Fall/Winter lineup for the Young Auditorium.

Starting off the Fall of 2023 lineup, Charlie Berens returns to Whitewater on Sep. 8 on his Charlie Berens: Good Old Fashioned Tour. Berens, a Wisconsin native, returns to Whitewater for a third time with this new comedy act. Berens is known for his show “Manitowoc Minute,” and more recently, his skits on TikTok and YouTube.

Ensemble Español: Spanish Dance Theater makes a visit next on Sep. 30. The Ensemble Español celebrates Spain through programs that bring the dance, music and song of Spain to U.S. audiences. Located at Northeastern Illinois University’s Department of Music and Dance, the mission is “the preservation, presentation and promotion of the Flamenco, Folkloric, Classical, Escuela Bolera and Contemporary Dance and Music traditions of Spain.”

If you are in the mood for a funny musical comedy, look no further! Guys on Ice: The Buddies are Back visits Whitewater Nov. 4. “Life on the lake is easy, especially when the fish are biting, the jokes are funny, there’s a ‘couple two three’ beers in the bucket and the Green Bay Packers are on the field. From the warmth of their shanty ‘up north,’ old pals Marvin and Lloyd spin wit, wisdom and hilarious songs about life, love and the one that got away. Don’t miss this Wisconsin musical tradition, featuring songs like When On Thin Ice, Ode to a Snowmobile Suit and The Wishing Hole.”

Guys on Ice: The Buddies are Back! performs at the Young Auditorium on Nov 4.

If you are more of a Jazz type person, Chuck Owen and ReSurgence visits the Young Auditorium on Nov. 8. As a Five-time GRAMMY nominee, comes with a jazzy new performance that also visits the different genres of classical, American folk/roots music, Latin, funk, and more.

Starting up the holiday season, The Company Men, a nationally recognized pop vocal group, visit Whitewater on Nov. 11. Consisting of performers who appeared on The Voice, American Idol, and Broadway and National Touring shows, The Company Men will perform over 70 different songs from the past eight decades, along with holiday themed songs to start that holiday cheer.

Continuing on with the Christmas Spirit, Church Basement Ladies come on Dec. 9 with their musical comedy show Away in the Basement. “It is 1959 and the day of the Sunday School Christmas Program. As the children rehearse up in the sanctuary, the ladies of the kitchen are finishing up the goody bags and putting final touches on the Nativity pieces. Little do they know what surprises are in store for them as they are called upon, once again, to step in and save the day!”

Rounding up the holiday season, Lauren Jelencovich comes to the Young Auditorium on Dec. 13 for an evening of Broadway classics, pop crossovers and holiday classics. Jelencovich, Yanni’s featured vocalist, has performed all over the world in sold-out venues, such as Carnegie Hall in New York City, Royal Albert Hall in London, and even in Saudi Arabia.

Ending the Fall/Winter 2023 season and starting the 2024 Winter/Spring season for the Young Auditorium, STOMP comes to Whitewater on Jan. 10. “STOMP is explosive, inventive, provocative, witty, and utterly unique—an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages. The international percussion sensation has garnered armfuls of awards and rave reviews and has appeared on numerous national television shows. The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.”

This wraps it up for the 2023 Fall/Winter season for the Young Auditorium. The season is filled with events that will entertain you as the school year progresses. To purchase tickets for these events, please visit Young Auditorium’s website. Make sure to stay tuned for the 2024 Winter/Spring season of Young Auditorium.
