Domestic Violence awareness month is incredibly important for multiple different reasons. Domestic violence awareness month brings the issue forward because a lot of people do not feel safe to talk about the violence they might be experiencing or to get help because they are scared for their safety. So, knowing the signs and being aware that a loved one might be experiencing domestic violence might help save their life. Over 20,000 calls are made to the domestic hotline everyday nationwide. That shows that domestic violence is not just a small problem for a couple of people. And bringing awareness might help a couple of people feel just a little bit safer to come forward. If you ever find that a loved one is experiencing domestic violence showing them that you just want to keep them safe and that you will support them when they are trying to get away from their abuser can be extremely helpful, unconditional support can go a long way. The university has multiple different numbers on the campus website that someone can call if they know someone is experiencing domestic violence or they are experiencing domestic violence.
