The City of Whitewater is home to many local businesses from cafés to pet stores. Pet Supplies Plus is a nationwide store, but is locally owned and operated in the community of Whitewater. The owners of this store opened a location in June this year because of the small business-friendly environment. The engaged, fun community brought Pet Supplies Plus in, and has made working in Whitewater enjoyable. 

“All of the community events are what make it worth it. How active the community is and how all the local businesses help each other out is my favorite part of working in Whitewater,” said employee Amy Rozny. 

Pet Supplies Plus has a small business feel when you enter their doors. The entire company is active in the community and other businesses, while keeping true to their motto of “minus the hassle”. This keeps people coming back to find what they are looking for and for the community aspect when searching for something for their beloved animals. 

“We are able to network with and support other businesses in Whitewater. We have regulars and are able to get to know community members and their pets. We have a group of fantastic people and it’s a great place to work,” said Rozny. They host events such as car shows, events for washing animals, and many others. They are also involved in helping the community out by helping the locals with their beloved pets that need care and love all year round. 

“More of a family here, we all work together, always get along, and everyone is always smiling and letting you in. Everyone is pushing you to do your best, and you don’t find that around a lot,” said cashier of the location, Annabel Maronez. 

She explains that working for Pet Supplies plus is working with a support system that is there for not only the customers but for the staff as well. This store is successful because they are not only here for this community, but are also welcoming to others in surrounding areas. 

Pet Supplies Plus offers all the supplies needed for every furry family member along with a variety of live fish and other pets. A self-serve dog washing station is also available. Want to leave it to the professionals? Grooming services are also offered to pamper your furry friend. 

“They are always welcoming you with open arms with a hug with any small accomplishment you complete,” said Maronez, on how supportive the other staff is. 

This is a small business run by small business oriented owners, to keep people coming back for more.
