Every December 31, millions of people around the world make New Year’s resolutions to do, or not do, something for the year. New Year’s resolutions are a nice idea and a good way to give yourself a goal for the upcoming year, unfortunately, the vast majority of people fail to keep their New Year resolutions. According to Forbes Magazine, only 8% of people complete their resolutions.
The reason behind this is simple, it is difficult to change your life overnight. A common New Year’s resolution is deciding to exercise more. So the first week of January the gyms are stuffed full, however, then people’s winter vacations end and they must return to their normal lives. Then finding the time and energy to exercise becomes more difficult.
People begin to compromise, and then soon enough your resolution has failed. However, this largely has to do with the type of resolutions people are making. They make resolutions which are new chores. Most resolutions are just additions to the list of tasks you need to do each day.
One way to help ensure you keep your New Year’s resolutions is by making news that is good for you but also feels good to do. Examples of this kind of resolution could be listening to a new song every day, or start listening to a podcast. These resolutions are easy to accomplish, as long as you like music or podcasts the resolutions will also be enjoyable to complete.
By making resolutions that are easy and fun to do a person will radically improve their chances of completing the resolutions. These small fun resolutions won’t have the same impact on your life as a big resolution would, but they can still have a positive effect on your life, and you will be much more likely to complete the resolution.
