Department of Music held a student senior recital that had the student Claudia Acosta, string bass player while accompanied by Lannette Calhoun who played the piano as they performed their pieces on April 6th at 3 pm at the Light Recital Hall. They performed four songs including two songs with other band individuals performing with Claudia. The performance at hand was classical music then it would rise up to feeling like jazz melodies that go together making other people feeling at peace for a bit then riled up for a moment.

Acosta performed the songs “Sonata in G Minor” by Henry Eccles, “Une Larme” by Gioachino Rossini, and Bass Concerto in D Major by Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf while accompanied by Lannette Calhoun who played the piano. Acosta performed “Symphony No. 9 Bass Quartet” by Antonin Dvorak with the help of other string bass players who are Charlie Shilhavy, Quentin Gilmore, and Jack Egnew. The last song “You’d be so nice to come home to” performed by Acost was a jazz song played by other jazz band players in the music department with the help of Anton Saucedo, alto saxophone player, Trevor Haglin, bass trombone player, Sean Powers, guitarist, Tom

my Swanwick, pianist, and Devon Powers who was the drummer.

The first two songs were classical and melodically peaceful as if it feels like you can think to yourself and ponder on about life for a moment in time. Then in some part of the songs it would pick up with an upbeat melody to get your body moving. The fourth song would have four string bass players playing together in harmony, feeling like its music from a fantasy movie or music vibes after the storm. The last song was jazzing it up with a jazz song with Acosta taking charge in the song while the bass trombone powerfully stood out and the guitarist rocked it away.

Acosta ended it with a bow filled with pride of the work they did as it ends with a classical note to silence. The music department has more events out there for this month like the BA/BSE Senior at April 10th at 11 am to 6 pm or an upcoming senior recital that is
