Last season, the UW-Whitewater men’s track and field team’s opening outdoor meet was the Rex Foster Twilight meet, which returns April 5.

Warhawk men’s track and field participated in the Meet of Champions at Augustana, Illinois. The Warhawks had a great day finishing in third behind only Washington U and UW-Platteville.

Shelvin Garrett II was one of the top performers off the day for the Warhawks placing first in both the men’s long jump and triple jump. His jump of 15.22 meters was the third best triple jump score so far this season. Ben Bjor finished third in the 200 meters with a time of 21.90. Kobe Chandler added a second place finish for the Warhawks with a time of 49.32 in the men’s 400 meters.

The Warhawks had a great day in the men’s 10,000 meter with Nickolas Hardin finishing in third, Tucker Johnson finishing fourth and Alex Metko finishing sixth. Whitewater was also able to have five finishers in the top 15 for the steeplechase. Brandon Gang led them taking third and would be followed by teammates Chris Allen placing sixth, Conner Murphy placing seventh. Keegan Bratt placed eighth and Jonah Block placed twelfth.

Whitewater took third in the 4 x 100 relay. Bjor, Andy VanZile, Nick McFadden and Carson Rindt helped the Warhawks get a time of 42.97. Brady Schaller placed fifth in the Pole Vault with a score of 4.58m. Tyler Jensen finished third in men’s discus with a throw of 47.80m. And Sean Larsen wrapped things up for the Warhawks taking seventh in the hammer throw.

The Warhawks will be back home for the Drake Alternative Meet April 26. This will be their last meet before the WIAC Outdoor Championships in Platteville.
