Wrestlers aim high for NCAA Tournament

’Hawks to host WIAC tournament

The wrestling team crushed UW-Platteville 42-6 on senior night Thursday, which was the last meet on the Warhawks’ schedule before the WIAC Conference Tournament. The ’Hawks will take to the mat Sunday to attempt to qualify for nationals by winning the WIAC Tournament. UW-Whitewater will be hosting the tournament at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Experienced group to lead wrestlers

An experienced UW-Whitewater wrestling team is coming off of a successful season and will begin the 2011 season this Friday against UW-Eau Claire. The Warhawks finished second in the WIAC last season, and sent four wrestlers to the national tournament.

Latella ends season on right note

The wrestling team began the Division III national championships just as it did the entire season: With a deep hole to dig out of. The team began the season 0-7, and each of the five wrestlers’ start in the championships mirrored the team’s start to the season as they all lost their first matches.
