Faculty march to Madison to deliver letter

Sometimes it takes great measures to get your point across to someone with different beliefs. Several UW-Whitewater faculty and staff members decided it would take a measure such as a 42-mile hike to Madison to deliver a letter addressing Gov. Scott Walker’s budget-repair bill and proposed biennial budget.

Capital budget includes money for Carlson Hall renovation

Gov. Scott Walker has proposed spending $1.1 billion in his capital budget on building projects over the next two years, including $17 million to renovate Carlson Hall. Walker’s proposal would be a 28.8 percent decrease from the current capital budget.

Education cuts bad for Wisconsin

Gov. Scott Walker’s budget proposal will affect numerous aspects of Wisconsinites’ lives including one UW-Whitewater holds near and dear to it’s heart: Education. With a strong education program at UW-Whitewater, students might fear they will see the students they will one day teach face struggles in the upcoming years.

Students, faculty hold rally outside Hyer Hall today

About 40 students, faculty and staff members attended a rally at noon today outside Hyer Hall in response to the the state senate and assembly's legislative action in recent days. The P.E.A.C.E. organization on campus hosted the event in collaboration with Assistant Professor Eric Compas and Professor James Winship.

Proposed budget affects university, city

From $834 million in cuts to K-12 education to putting hundreds of millions of dollars into state highway projects, most people, businesses and cities could be greatly affected by Gov. Scott Walker’s proposed budget, including the city of Whitewater and the university.
