The upcoming gubernatorial election presents two very different candidates and two very different paths for Wisconsin. Through Governor Walker’s bold reforms and willingness to choose what is right over what is easy, our state has made a comeback. From eliminating a $3.6 billion budget deficit to freezing every UW-System students’ tuition, Governor Walker and the Republican Legislature have worked diligently to put Wisconsin back on track. Under Walker we have seen the creation of over 100,000 new jobs, 23,000 new businesses, and an unemployment rate at its lowest point since 2008. Unfortunately, all of this progress could be undone if we return to the Doyle/Burke policies of the past. When Mary Burke served as Commerce Secretary, the state’s growth rate never went above 1% and we ranked 42nd in the nation for job growth. We saw a loss of 6,500 manufacturing jobs and the unemployment rate spiked over the national average for the only time in the last 25 years. Through her past support of policies that led to 133,000 jobs being lost and 27,000 businesses leaving the state, we know where Mary Burke would take our state: backward to a third term of Doyle. The choice is clear: in order to continue the prosperity our state has seen, we must reject Mary Burke’s top down one size fits all approach to government. We must embrace the natural and organic economic growth that allows the innovators and entrepreneurs of our generation to succeed. Make the responsible decision this November, and vote for the candidate who will continue to move Wisconsin forward. Vote for Governor Scott Walker.
