Dear Mr. Frank Bartlett:
I would like to thank you for responding to my article, “Making UW-W More Accessible to Everyone,” published in the October 12, 2011 issue of “The Royal Purple.”
As a result of your proactive response, the HawkCard Purple Points machine in the laundry room of Starin Hall, as well as several of the washers and dryers, now have Braille labels affixed to the buttons, so they can be operated by blind and visually impaired students independently.
By authorizing the purchase of a Braille labeler by The Office of Residence Life, as well as providing staff members to put Braille on the machines, you have made Starin Hall more accessible.
You have also re-affirmed my belief in the power of the media and the importance of journalism. Thank you for being vigilant and attentive to the needs of students at UW-Whitewater.
Sincerely,
Katherine Watson
