Kara Blangin, President of Best Buddies UW-Whitewater

Best Buddies is a club where individuals are paired up with people with disabilities, including individuals with Autism. We do fun activities each meeting and we develop life long friendships. It is important to support people with Autism because being inclusive is what this club is all about. One of the buddies actually said once, “We wouldn’t need buddies if everyone was always a buddy.” And that has stuck with me because if we were always inclusive and accommodating then our club would have done exactly what we have always pushed for. We want to create connections and relationships with individuals with disabilities because everyone should have a voice and be heard.
